Frox spoilers
Leave the town, go down through one dungeon after another,
and in the end put down the King of Amber and the Serpent.
Everything the game gives you to do it with, in one place.
If you are new to it
FroxComposband is a roguelike in the Angband line, and what sets it apart is how much there is to choose from. You build an adventurer out of a race, a class and a personality, then work out of the towns into a whole set of dungeons.
- Death is the end. Nothing brings you back. When it looks bad, run.
- Every level is built fresh. There is no map to learn — what you learn is how monsters and items behave.
- Items start out unidentified. Potions, scrolls and rings tell you nothing but their appearance until you try them.
- There is more than one dungeon. 44 of them, shallow to deep, each with its own master.
- Speed matters. At +10 you act twice for every one of theirs. Get hold of speed early.
Start with getting started. If you have played Hengband, coming from Hengband covers what is different. The controls and the rules are all in the in-game help.
What is here
How to read it
“Depth” is the level a monster or item natively appears on; depth 0 is the surface. Things turn up higher and lower than that.
Speed +0 is normal: at +10 you move twice as fast, at -10 half as fast.
Dice are written 2d4, meaning two four-sided dice.
If you have not played yet, leave the monster and artefact pages alone. Not knowing what is down there is most of the pleasure. Open them when you are stuck.
